The opening ceremony of ITB Berlin 2012 will be presented by leaders in the travel trade industry and celebrities, and will highlight the diverse product offered by partner country, Egypt.
Egypt is currently extending an invitation for all to attend the opening ceremony, taking place on March 6, 2012 at the ICC Berlin.
It is expected that around 4,500 international industry representatives will be welcomed to the event before celebrity guests will be handed the reins. Due to speak are secretary general, UNWTO, Taleb Rifai; president, German Tourism Industry, Klaus Laepple; and minister for tourism, Egypt, Abdel Nour, who will speak on behalf of Egypt, the partner country at ITB.
Egypt will be highlighting its past with historic exhibits ranging from ancient times to the present day. Following this, traditional and contemporary dancing will offer a taste for the evening’s celebrations.
The opening performance is being dubbed ‘The Colours of Egypt’, and will include a 15 minute display of a variety of folk dancing styles. Cairo Opera House will perform a ballet piece entitled ‘Malgré Tout’, which tells the story of Egypt’s rebirth after the trials of the revolution. Following the performance, visitors will be invited to dance with the artists on stage before Egypt invites them to savour its regional specialties and culinary delights.
